Solid hardwood and softwood species
Our French wood species
Each species of wood is carefully selected by the Ducerf Group's buyers. They come from the finest forests in France and are processed with expertise to produce solid wood finished products of remarkable quality. Historically an oak sawmill, we now work with a wide range of species, particularly hardwoods, to meet all your needs.
French hardwood species
French forests are characterised by their diversity and richness, covering almost a third of the national territory. They are home to a majority of hardwood species, which account for around two-thirds of forest area. Hardwoods such as oak, beech, hornbeam and ash play a central role in the ecological and economic balance of forests. These hardwoods, with their varied and precious species, provide raw materials for the manufacture of wooden interior furniture, joinery, construction and energy, while at the same time promoting biodiversity. By capturing carbon and providing habitats for a wide variety of fauna, French hardwoods also help to combat climate change, while promoting a unique natural and cultural heritage.
French softwood species
France's rich and varied forests also contain a high proportion of softwoods, covering around a third of their surface area. These softwoods, such as maritime pine and Douglas fir, are particularly present in mountainous regions and in areas suited to their rapid growth. Softwoods play a key role in the forestry economy, as they are light, strong and easy to work,
